Privacy-preserving image processing

The home page of our website, the Slim Picture Maker, is an interactive tool that has image processing capabilities. The Slim Picture Maker allows you to view and modify your photos in total privacy because your images are not uploaded to the web server. All processing takes place in the web browser of your device. Therefore, only you can access and see your images as a result of your interaction with the Slim Picture Maker.

- When you select a photo file, its pixel information is loaded directly to a program running in your browser. This temporarily held pixel information will be deleted after you leave the Slim Picture Maker page (or close the browser), because that will end the execution of the program.

- When you modify an image, the same program running in your browser performs the required processing to render the changes on the screen.

- When you save a modified image as a new photo file, the same program running in your browser saves the modified pixel information directly to a new photo file in the Downloads of your device.

A cookie is a small block of data that may be stored on your browser when you visit a website.

There are two types of cookies depending on how long they last:

Session cookies are created when you start to interact with a website and they exist only during your browser session. These cookies are stored in temporary memory and are deleted when you close the browser.

First-party cookies are set for the domain of the website you are visiting.
Third-party cookies belong to a domain other than the domain of the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies may be set when a website uses a third-party service, such as online advertising.

Essential cookies, also referred to as strictly necessary cookies, are technically required for the operation of a website.

Opt-out tools

In response to growing privacy concerns among Internet users, regulators in different countries and jurisdictions have introduced laws on data protection and privacy. Examples of such laws include the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

A growing number of countries have enacted their own information privacy laws - Brazil (LGPD), Canada (PIPEDA), and Japan (APPI), just to name a few. Some countries are also reforming their laws to match the GDPR.

As a result of these legal developments, owners and operators of websites are required to post a transparent privacy policy that explains their data practices, including the use of cookies. The policy should also disclose the use of third-party services (vendors and ad networks) and provide links to the websites of the corresponding third parties.

Most importantly, end users must be provided with reliable tools for controlling privacy settings.

The following list shows several ways how you can opt out of cookies or control the use of your data:

You can also opt out of interest-based advertising (IBA) using the consumer choice tools described below. Your opt-out request will be applied to the browser from which you submit it.
